Frieren Anime Episode 12 Recap
In the prior episode, Frieren and her party, having parted ways with Kraft, continued their journey northward. Their destination was the Village of the Sword, a place safeguarding the Hero’s Blade. Welcomed by the village chief, Frieren faced admonishment for neglecting her duty to visit every 50 years and eliminate the demons in the vicinity. Responding to this, the party took swift action the following day, clearing out demons, including the Lord of the Mountains guarding a cave.
Upon inspecting the cave, Stark discovered the Hero’s Blade embedded in a stone. Perplexed, as he knew the late hero Himmel possessed the sword, Frieren clarified that Himmel couldn’t draw the Holy sword during his journey. The Blade exclusively chose the true Hero, deeming Himmel “Unworthy.” Despite this, Himmel was determined to continue his journey, knowing that defeating the Demon King and bringing prosperity to the world held greater significance.
The village had kept this secret, guarding the sword from the outside world. With their mission complete, Frieren and her companions bid farewell to the village and resumed their journey.
In the subsequent segment of the episode, Frieren and Fern decided to give Stark a special gift for his 18th birthday. Surprisingly, Stark revealed that he had never received a birthday present before. When Frieren prepared an extra-large hamburger steak for him, Stark recalled how his master, Eisen, never gave him a present but always prepared such hamburgers on his birthdays. Frieren disclosed that it was a custom from Eisen’s land to gift such hamburgers as an honor to fine warriors.
The episode concluded with Stark deeply moved. As he relished his meal, Frieren and Fern celebrated his birthday in a grand manner.
