Did The Big Bang Break Fortnite?

Fortnite faced server shutdowns due to an overwhelming influx of players eager to witness the second showing of Eminem’s The Big Bang Break Fortnite. Scheduled for December 2 at 2 pm EST, the event promised insights into upcoming content, including a LEGO collaboration and more.

The immense popularity of the Big Bang event led to extensive queue times, with some players enduring waits exceeding an hour to participate. In response, Fortnite announced two additional showtimes, each featuring a concert by Eminem, spaced approximately three hours apart to allow for event resets.

However, the unexpected surge in popularity during the second event surpassed the initial showing, compelling Epic Games to implement server shutdowns in an attempt to address the situation.

Servers Crash Due To The Big Bang Event Popularity in Fortnite

Fortnite’s official status update account on Twitter/X informed players about the temporary shutdown of servers due to connection issues arising from the overwhelming attendance during the anticipation of the upcoming event.

Fortnite stated, “We’re still working to recover from the overwhelming attendance from the first event showtime. We’re taking Fortnite offline temporarily while we work to set up encore shows in a few hours. More info on our next showtimes coming soon.”

Numerous users reported experiencing queue times longer than those encountered earlier in the day, with some sharing images of wait times nearing two hours.
