Known by his online alias IShowSpeed, Darren Jason Watkins Jr. faced the adversity of having his PlayStation account suspended. This unexpected development triggered a heartfelt reaction from the streamer, adding another memorable moment to IShowSpeed’s collection of lively livestream incidents.
In 2021, IShowSpeed gained widespread recognition through his dynamic variety streams, characterized by animated reactions to on-screen events. Despite being just 17 years old, he became the most-watched YouTube streamer in 2022. His online presence continues to expand rapidly, evident in the noteworthy growth of IShowSpeed’s YouTube channel, which now boasts over 22.5 million subscribers as of early 2024—a notable 12.5% increase within the last five months.
PlayStation Bans IShowSpeed
In a livestream conducted in mid-January, IShowSpeed shared his genuine reaction upon receiving an email notifying him of the temporary suspension of his PlayStation account. PlayStation bans IShowSpeed was attributed to inappropriate behavior within the PlayStation exclusive game, LittleBigPlanet. Notably, what made this situation unique was that it wasn’t the streamer’s fault. IShowSpeed expressed his lack of knowledge about LittleBigPlanet during the January 16 livestream, as indicated in a clip from the now-deleted broadcast shared by Twitter user IShowSpeedHQ.
PlayStation Bans IShowSpeed: IShowSpeed’s Brother Was at Fault
After conducting an online search for the game’s name, the 18-year-old streamer deduced that his half-brother Dian was responsible for the account suspension. Displaying animated frustration on camera, IShowSpeed decided to contact his two-year-younger sibling to inquire about the incident. Dian promptly admitted to being the cause, confessing that he had uploaded a custom sticker that led to the PlayStation bans IShowSpeed.
IShowSpeed expressed confusion about why his brother was using his PlayStation account to play LittleBigPlanet instead of utilizing his own profile. In response, Dian claimed he had no alternative account to play on. Despite reassuring IShowSpeed that the suspension was only for three days rather than a permanent ban, the streamer became increasingly agitated, repeatedly emphasizing that his account should not have been tampered with. Notably, PlayStation had already lifted the ban on IShowSpeed by the time he realized the suspension had occurred.
It’s essential to highlight that sharing PSN passwords constitutes a violation of the PlayStation Terms of Service. Sony’s support pages explicitly state that such actions compromise the security of the account and strongly advise users against divulging their login credentials to anyone.
