Fortnite has taken players by surprise by offering free back bling to anyone who participated in Chapter 4 Season 4, a move that has left many fans puzzled.
Fortnite enthusiasts might be scratching their heads when they log in next, as a complimentary cosmetic item has been added to their accounts, even if they hadn’t finished the quests that were expected to be prerequisites for unlocking it. Fortnite was originally a simpler game when it was first launched, especially in comparison to its current complexity. During the initial chapter, players had access to weekly and daily quests, along with seasonal quests on occasion. However, over time, the game has evolved substantially, featuring an array of tasks that players can complete to expedite their Fortnite account progression or earn free cosmetics.
Some time ago, the Arena game mode was slated for discontinuation. When Fortnite announced the addition of Ranked Mode, Arena’s successor, fans were left somewhat uncertain. Unlike its predecessor, Ranked Mode operates on a seasonal basis, similar to the Battle Royale mode, and provides players with opportunities to unlock exclusive cosmetics that won’t be attainable after the season concludes.
To gain access to these Ranked cosmetic items, players must complete Ranked Urgent Quests, season-long challenges that require a significant amount of dedication and time. These rewards are meant for the most committed players, which is why some were disappointed when Epic Games revealed that they would be awarding the Bonus Goal reward, the most challenging one to achieve, to everyone who logged in during Chapter 4 Season 4.
Even those Fortnite players who haven’t played a single Ranked match during the season are set to receive the Redmask Ranker Fortnite free back bling if they meet the criteria. Players who’ve been absent from the game for the past few months can still claim it as long as they log into Fortnite before the conclusion of Chapter 4 Season 4 on November 3.
This gesture has not been without its share of detractors, as some had diligently worked to unlock this cosmetic and appreciated the exclusivity it offered. Prior to Epic Games’ decision to distribute the Fortnite free back bling, only those who had successfully completed all 35 Ranked Urgent Quests by the end of the Ranked season could obtain it. However, on a positive note, the official Fortnite Status account mentioned that cosmetic items reflecting Ranked mode progression would be available earlier so that players could display their achievements during gameplay.
