Upon conversing with Sinclair, you’ll embark on the “Geology for Beginners” mission. This task will require you to venture out in search of ten distinct rock carvings and then dispatch them to the Post Office.
- To start your quest, make your way to the carving west of Strawberry, situated on the western bank of Owanjila Lake. This carving can be found adorning a prominent boulder jutting out of the ground along the lakeshore.
- Next, head north of Strawberry, keeping an eye out for the carving on the cliffs just south of where the word “West” is marked on the map.
- Proceeding further, make your way just northwest of Flatneck Station in New Hanover, located between the station and the Dakota River. In this rough terrain, search for the carving on a small cliff face to the south.
- Continuing your journey north, slightly head southwest from where the “A” in Ambarino appears on the map near Mount Hagen in Grizzlies West. As you ascend the trail, watch the mountainside near the summit for the carving.
- To the south, located between the “B” and “A” in Ambarino, you’ll come across the Window Rock and Granite Pass. Ascend to the river’s top beneath the pass on the western side, and look to your left on the rocks above to spot the carving.
- Just across the Dakota River from the previous carving, to the south of Widow Rock and northwest of the “C” in Cumberland Forest, navigate uphill to find the carving etched into the side.
- Proceed immediately west of Bacchus Station, above Fort Wallace, and scale the mountain from the side facing the river. On a narrow ledge high above, you’ll encounter the next carving.
- For the following carving, follow the train tracks until you’re above the “N” in New Hanover and below Moonstone Pond. Ascend from the north for the best approach, and you’ll find the carving facing northward, near the peak.
- Venture to the extreme northeast of the map, to the Elysian Pool. On the northeast bank, just off the path, stands a massive rock carving above the ground.
- Lastly, head to the region above Annesburg and west of the “N” in Roanoke. Travel the westward path toward Deer Cottage, and you’ll discover the carving not far from the road, positioned near the ridge’s peak.

Following this, you’ll need to either rest or engage in other activities for a full 24-hour cycle before you can retrieve your mail in response. Ride back to the spot where you initially accepted the quest. As you enter Sinclair’s abode, a brief cutscene will be triggered. The scene will conclude with you outside the house, but the compass won’t be in your possession. To secure the compass, promptly turn around, re-enter the house, locate it on the table, and retrieve it before you depart; otherwise, you’ll completely miss the opportunity.
