For those unfamiliar with the term, there was confusion about how Requiem related to the original series, as it provided fans with an alternative ending that deviates from Eren’s death.

Is Attack on Titan Requiem Canon?

Attack on Titan Requiem is a fan-created series that offers an alternative perspective to the conclusion presented in Hajime Isayama’s manga. The manga’s ending was met with mixed reactions from the community, prompting fans to explore various alternative endings.

Isayama’s original manga finale depicted the Rumbling causing widespread destruction, with Eren meeting his demise at the hands of Mikasa Ackerman. It also hinted at the potential continuation of the cycle as a human discovered the tree granting Ymir Titan-shifting powers.

Three years ago, a music video titled “Akatsuki no Requiem” was released, showcasing elements reminiscent of the original series. This video hinted at an alternative ending, serving as the inspiration for Attack on Titan Requiem.

Although the fan-made project is still in progress, only three parts have been released so far. Due to the reliance on crowdfunding, the team is awaiting funds to create parts 4 and 5. Despite the incomplete status, fans are already aware of the series’ direction and its ending.
