The Day Before is no longer available for purchase on Steam, a development that occurred shortly after the closure of the game’s development studio.
Following numerous delays, Fntastic, the developer, finally launched The Day Before on December 7 through Steam Early Access. However, the release quickly turned disastrous, with players encountering a multitude of game-breaking bugs and other issues.
The situation took a further downturn as the studio announced its closure, citing the game’s financial failures as the primary cause. Adding another layer to the unfolding Days Before saga, Steam users discovered that the ability to purchase the game has been revoked a few hours after the studio shutdown announcement. Additionally, both the company’s and Days Before’s online presence is gradually diminishing.
The Day Before Removed From Steam hours After Devs Shut Down Studio
As noted by Wario64, The Day Before is no longer available for purchase on the PC storefront. Although the Steam store page remains accessible at the time of writing, all options for purchasing the game have been abruptly removed.
The situation extends beyond the game’s delisting. Journalist Nick Calandra highlighted the deactivation of the studio CEO’s personal Twitter account. Fntastic’s official website has been reduced to a minimal state, with only the studio closure announcement visible on the page.
Notably, the Fntastic YouTube channel no longer showcases previously released trailers for The Day Before. The ‘About’ section on the channel does include a message expressing gratitude to supporters over the past eight years.
The swift developments surrounding The Day Before, which entered Steam Early Access just four days ago, raise significant concerns. The sudden removal from the storefront is compounded by the CEO’s Twitter deactivation and the sparse display on the studio’s website, limiting avenues for user communication.
In the studio’s shutdown announcement, Fntastic pledged to use all earnings from the game to settle debts with their partners. This situation prompts questions about potential reimbursements, especially considering Steam’s two-hour gameplay policy for refunds and the now-defunct live-service aspect of the survival game.
As the dust settles, those associated with The Day Before will likely face numerous inquiries.
