In Riyadh 2023 Global Esports Games, the premier event of the Global Esports Federation, commenced with grandeur on Tuesday, receiving accolades for its ability to unite the global gaming community through a diverse range of titles.
This year’s third annual Riyadh 2023 Global Esports Games, taking place from December 12 to 16 at the SEF Arena in Riyadh, marks the inaugural hosting of the esteemed event in the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
Organized by the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) and presented by the Global Esports Federation (GEF), #GEG23 encompasses several renowned global titles spanning various genres. These include DOTA 2, featured in both the DOTA 2 Open and DOTA 2 Women competitions, eFootball™ 2024, PUBG MOBILE, and Street Fighter 6.

During the opening ceremony on Tuesday, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, Chairman of SEF, characterized #GEG23 as the “realization of a dream,” emphasizing the Kingdom’s aspirations to host iconic tournaments, cultivate enduring connections, and unlock the full potential of esports. HRH also expressed enthusiasm about the competition, providing a preview of what athletes and audiences can anticipate.

Through events like this, we not only provide new platforms for talent to shine and inspire audiences but also contribute to the long-term growth, sustainability, and success of esports in Saudi Arabia and globally. Representing 56 countries, eight from Africa, 12 from the Americas, 18 from Asia, and 17 from Europe, with Australia and New Zealand carrying the hopes of Oceania.
