Fortnite OG Map Has Returned In The New Season

The Fortnite island is undergoing a transformation once more, evoking a sense of nostalgia for long-time fans. The latest season, dubbed Fortnite OG, promises regular updates, each bringing back different phases of the battle royale’s past, as outlined by developer Epic Games.

Fortnite OG map will initially focus on Chapter 1: Season 5, heralding the return of iconic locations like Tilted Towers, which had been famously obliterated in 2019. Classic weaponry such as assault rifles, pump shotguns, and hunting rifles will make a comeback, along with the revival of vehicles like the shopping cart and the all-terrain kart.

Subsequent chapters will be delved into as the season progresses. November 9th will introduce a season 6-themed update featuring quadcrashers and six-shooters, followed by November 16th which will tackle seasons 7 and 8, bringing back Stormwing planes and mini-guns. Lastly, on November 23rd, seasons 9 and X will be revisited, heralding the return of jetpacks and the Baller.

While a comprehensive list of changes can be found on Epic’s blog, there’s an air of mystery suggesting additional surprises. According to the developer, “Some of the unvaulted gear in each update will remain for that update, be in more than one update, or stay for the rest of Fortnite OG. It’s also hinted that the season will pay homage to live events that defined that period of the game, such as the rolling cube, erupting volcano, or the memorable black hole event.

This season stands out for its notably shorter duration compared to the standard Fortnite OG map seasons, spanning only four weeks. Consequently, the battle pass, referred to as the OG pass, will present 50 unlockable items, half the usual amount, but will still maintain the regular 950 V-bucks cost. Completing the pass will grant players 1,000 V-bucks, and for Fortnite Crew subscribers, it remains complimentary. The cast of characters available for unlocking are revamped versions of popular outfits from the game’s history.

Naturally, the in-game shop will also offer a curated selection of classic, mashup, and new items for purchase. This significant shift occurred during a period of substantial change for both Fortnite and its developer. The game is evolving towards user-generated content while grappling with issues like increased pricing, the departure of creative lead Donald Mustard, and significant layoffs at Epic Games.
