A recent development brings excitement to fans eagerly anticipating the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring’s open-world game.
The Steam version of Elden Ring has recently incorporated a new DLC package into its files, hinting at the potential imminent arrival of Shadow of the Erdtree. Despite approaching its two-year anniversary, Elden Ring enthusiasts have yet to witness substantial information about the game’s DLC. The only knowledge available is the existence of the DLC and its title, Shadow of the Erdtree.
FromSoftware has a rich history of enhancing its games with DLC expansions, many of which have been well-received by the fanbase. Due to the studio’s reputation for delivering high-quality DLC, expectations are elevated for Shadow of the Erdtree. Unfortunately, for eager fans seeking more details, FromSoftware has been relatively silent about the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC since its initial announcement. Nevertheless, mounting evidence suggests that this silence may soon be broken.
The most recent indication that the Elden Ring DLC is approaching surfaced through the game’s Steam files, as discovered by Ziostorm on Twitter. A DLC package named “SteamDB Unknown App 2778580” was added earlier this month, though specific details such as file size remain unknown at this time. While there is a possibility that this pertains to something unrelated to Shadow of the Erdtree, many fans interpret it as a promising sign that the long-anticipated DLC is on the verge of being unveiled.
Elden Ring DLC Gets First Update of 2024
Additional evidence supporting the imminent release of the Elden Ring DLC has surfaced. In December, the product page for a Thrustmaster Elden Ring-themed controller indicated that its launch would coincide with the release of Shadow of the Erdtree in February 2024. The removal of the listing led many to speculate that it was a credible leak, heightening expectations for the Elden Ring DLC to be unveiled on the game’s second anniversary.
Elden Ring initially launched on February 25, 2022, making it conceivable that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC might also be released on the same day. However, it’s worth noting that February 25 falls on a Thursday this year, whereas the majority of game releases, including expansions, typically occur on Tuesdays or Fridays. This raises the possibility that the DLC may be launched on a different day in February, assuming it is indeed set for release during that month.
The most recent official update regarding the Elden Ring DLC came from FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa Corporation. In an earnings report, Kadokawa Corporation stated that the Elden Ring DLC development is progressing smoothly but chose not to disclose any specific release information at that time. With February approaching, there is optimism that the wait for the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is drawing to a close.
