What is The Monsters Anime About?
The Monsters anime is an authentic narrative that unfolds 400 years in the past, revealing the historical events of Wano. It delves into the captivating tale of Ryuma’s dragon-slaying legend, as envisioned by Eiichiro Oda’s one-shot. This anime adaptation explores the backstory and renowned exploits of Shimotsuki Ryuma.
The Thriller Bark arc in One Piece initially introduced Ryuma, a legendary swordsman hailing from Wano and the ancestor of Roronoa Zoro. His notable accomplishment is said to involve the slaying of a dragon. Eiichiro Oda, in SBS Volume 247, clarifies: “Despite being a zombie, the character appearing in Chapter 450 is indeed Ryuma. The samurai protagonist of the MONSTERS short story. In the world of One Piece, however, he is a legendary warrior who has already passed away due to illness and etched his name in history.”
