Valorant Episode 8 Act 1 made its debut on January 9, 2024, following the conclusion of Episode 7 earlier that day. Remaining consistent with the timeline of past Acts, E8A1 became active within a few hours.
As a tradition mirroring its predecessors, the release of E8A1 occurred at 2 PM PT (5 PM ET/10 PM BST). Prior to the launch, the ranked queue was temporarily suspended to facilitate server maintenance, ensuring a smooth transition for the implementation of the new update.
What’s New in Valorant Episode 8 Act 1?
To kick things off, Riot reintroduced Icebox into the competitive map pool and implemented adjustments to Lotus, while removing Haven. The current map rotation comprises Ascent, Bind, Breeze, Icebox, Lotus, Split, and Sunset.
In Episode 8 Act 1, a new sniper named Outlaw has been introduced, marking the first addition to the weapon lineup since the game’s launch. Positioned as a double-barrel sniper, the Outlaw features variable reload speeds, placing it between the Marshal and Operator in terms of functionality.
