The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Trailer Has Been Released

The anime lineup for Winter 2024 is shaping up to be quite promising. The latest addition to this lineup is the adaptation of The Unwanted Undead Adventurer. Just this week, a fresh teaser promotional video was unveiled, shedding light on this upcoming adaptation. Notably, the video also introduced the anime’s theme song performers and officially confirmed its inclusion in the Winter 2024 schedule.

This new video made its debut during the 10th Anniversary Memorial Overlap Bunko All-Star Assemble Special, which was broadcast live on Sunday, October 15. The video offered a sneak peek of the opening theme song titled Immortal, which will be performed by JUVENILE, a talented DJ/artist. Additionally, it was revealed that Mao Abe will be in charge of the ending song, although the title of the song remains undisclosed.

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer revolves around the adventures of a young and somewhat unremarkable hunter, Rentt Faina. His abilities fall in the middle ground, leading him to undertake numerous mundane quests, such as hunting goblins and slimes. However, his fate takes a dramatic turn when he unexpectedly encounters a formidable dragon, which swallows him whole. This doesn’t mark the end of Rentt’s journey, though, as he returns as a skeleton, existing in a state between life and death. As he embarks on a new chapter of his adventures, Rentt endeavors to find a way to regain his humanity and return to the world of the living.

The original light novel series, The Unwanted Undead Adventurer, was penned by Yuu Okano, with its initial publication in 2016 on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website, later being picked up for print publication by OVERLAP. Japan provided the illustrations for the series. In 2017, OVERLAP’s manga platform, Comic Gardo, commenced publishing a manga adaptation of “The Unwanted Undead Adventurer,” authored by Haiji Nakasone.

The anime adaptation by CONNECT has unveiled its talented cast and crew, which includes notable names. The team features director Noriaki Akitaya (known for “Bakuman”), scriptwriter Yukie Sugawara (“Overlord”), and the vocal talents of Mikako Komatsu (“Jujutsu Kaisen”), Ryouta Suzuki (“Kaguya-sama: Love is War”), and Sayumi Suzushiro (also from “Kaguya-sama: Love is War”).
